A tie. Socks. Towels. A mop. You know, practical gifts.  Those things you can use, possibly not even live without, but they’re not exactly what you were hoping for. They’re not interesting or exciting. Sure, you might want a new vacuum for a wedding gift, but who really wants one for Christmas?

For several years I have heard people praise Dan Carlin's podcast Hardcore History. This past week I finally took the opportunity to give Carlin a shot. Not knowing if it was my cup of tea or not, I decided to jump all in with a six-hour episode on nuclear weapons. (Might as well go big.) Yes, everyone was correct. It is an excellent podcast.
